Edge of Memories coming to PC PS5 and Xbox

Nacon has just published the exhilarating new JRPG Edge of Memories, which was birthed from the mind of one French development group, Midgar Studio, which consists of a huge lineup of industry veterans.

The latest adventure exists within the same universe as Edge of Eternity, barring a few things- it is on another continent. It thus offers a different perspective on the shared lore introduced in its predecessor.

The most interesting part about Edge of Memories is probably the illustrious roster of professionals involving character design, music composition, and narrative. In 2021 came the launch of an RPG dubbed Edge of Eternity, a game utilizing the familiar tropes of the traditional JRPGs.

For this reason, Midgar Studio has called the game ‘French touch JRPG’ after the famous city from Final Fantasy 7. The game features a turn-based battle system inspired by that of Final Fantasy, with music by the great Yasunori Mitsuda, composer for Chrono Trigger and Xenogears.

While Edge of Eternity has been generally considered only mildly successful with critics at best, the heart of the tribute remains strong, enticing JRPG players looking for a different take on familiar themes.

Now, Midgar Studio and Nacon intend to go along with a new adventure set in Avaris, a land devastated by the disease Corrosion. Yasunori Mitsuda returns for the score with Mariam Abounnasr, the wonderful arranger from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3. While, Emi Evans, the remarkable voice behind the music of NieR and NieR: Automata, adds her voice to the project.

Character design is helmed by Raita Kazama, who worked on Xenoblade Chronicles X. Joining him is Sawako Natori, famous for her contributions to NieR and Drakengard.

Adding to the thrill, the combat designer for Final Fantasy XV, Mitsuru Yokoyama, has also got his think-tank involved to further raise the ante on Edge of Memories’ real-time action gameplay.
