The latest season of Fortnite embraces its eccentricity for Chapter 6: Season 2, aptly named ‘Lawless,’ which centers on heists. Players will now have a chance to sneak into bank vaults, hijack armored trucks, and rob a train that chugs across the island.
Not to mention, there’s a giant pickle that raps, just to add even more bizarre charm to this oddball affair. After a season infused with Japanese culture, Lawless seems to borrow concepts from Grand Theft Auto.
Besides the heist aspect, players can discover new locales such as one titled Crime City. It offers a variety of cool features including swimming in gold water giving you some sort of powers and a fictional cryptocurrency that allows users to buy gear but resets after each game.
It also allows black markets to sell some really expensive weaponry along with a scanner that can locate enemies; while mob bosses pop up during heists to bless you with their presence. Also, players can select a song to jam along to while jumping onto the map and when celebrating their victory, giving off wrestler entrance vibes.
Those who spend money on this season’s battle pass will be treated to a collection of colorful criminals, plus Big Dill, the aforementioned pickle, and evidently, Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat.
From March 1, there will be a number of quests referencing Cowboy Bebop, with an outfit sale for Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine on February 28. The Lawless season is set to run until May 2.
While the battle royale updates remain at the core of Fortnite, the game appears to be diversifying its offerings in recent months. Among these developments are the addition of local multiplayer gameplay to the music mode, a new shooter mode akin to Counter-Strike, and a Lego-themed social game inspired by GTA roleplaying.
