Excitement is building at NetherRealm Studios with a few weeks left before T-1000’s debut in Mortal Kombat 1. The studio has released another teaser trailer showing a little preview of the DLC fighter battling Johnny Cage.
This teaser, which lasts just under a minute, gives just that: a glimpse into the new character’s fighting style. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has indicated that a full trailer will soon be released, along with the teaser that revealed Madam Bo as the next Kameo fighter.
Though originally played by Robert Patrick in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the character will now be reprised by him in Mortal Kombat 1. Viewers get a tiny taste of Patrick’s voice in the teaser.
Before the encounter, Johnny Cage comments on T-1000’s ‘megastar looks’ that he thinks are wasted on an evil robot, making T-1000 inquire, “What is a megastar?” The teaser trailer is below for viewing.
As anticipated, T-1000’s move set will largely draw its inspiration from the nature of its liquid metallic form. He shapes his arms into sharp metal blades that slash down at Johnny Cage and turn into a formless silver mass while leaping into the air.
Ed Boon teased glimpses of a T-1000 Fatality earlier in the press tour, but the brand-new trailer caters to that thirst with more intricate detail. Johnny Cage is pursued by T-1000 driving a truck, a reflection of an unforgettable scene from Terminator 2.
The truck hits Cage and he ends up bloodied against the grill, after which T-1000 leans out the window of the truck, hanging in front of Cage, and begins firing bullets at him. With T-1000’s release in Mortal Kombat 1 set for March 18th, there is bound to be more news about the character soon. Of course, Robert Patrick reprises this famous role as the T-1000 in Terminator 2 and also plays White Dragon from the Peacemaker streaming series.
